According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella is getting closer and closer to completing his move to Inter Milan. The 22 year old has been heavily chased by Chelsea in the past, most notably during the January transfer window. He has reportedly spoken with Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti ahead of the proposed move, and could well be the first signing of the summer for the club. One of the most interesting points about this, though, is that Spalletti is widely expected to be leaving the San Siro at some point in the next few weeks. If that does end up happening and he winds up being replaced, it’ll be fascinating to see whether or not Barella will still fit into the new manager’s plans.
He almost certainly will, but Inter fans should probably keep that thought in the back of their minds just in case things go south.
