Barnsley 23/20 to beat Huddersfield in Saturday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Barnsley win

Odds: 23/20 @ Bet 365

Looking to find a route out of the drop zone and pick up Yorkshire bragging rights, Barnsley will welcome Huddersfield to Oakwell on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, putting three past Crewe to book their spot in the fourth round of this year’s FA Cup, Barnsley have continued to make some much-needed improvements since bringing in new boss Gerhard Struber. While a 2-1 defeat away at Derby may have brought an end to the Reds’ five-match unbeaten run, the former Wolfsburger Head Coach has seen his side really put in some eye-catching performances at Oakwell. Including snatching a point off of title contenders West Brom on Boxing Day, Saturday’s hosts are unbeaten in their last four straight matchups in South Yorkshire, a run also highlighted by a stunning 5-3 win over QPR last month.

As for the visitors, falling to a 2-0 defeat away at Premier League outfit Southampton last weekend and seeing their FA Cup ambitions come to an abrupt end, Huddersfield simply have their sights set on extending their Championship status this year. While Danny Cowley might have managed to drag the Terriers out of the drop zone, they have lost three of their last four and many around West Yorkshire are fearing their side could be slumping back to their old ways. Huddersfield could also still be reeling from their 5-2 hammering against fellow scrappers Stoke on New Year’s Day. Also winning just one of their last six matches on the road, we’re backing another tricky afternoon for the former Lincoln boss.
