Barnsley secure Butland deal

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland has joined Championship strugglers Barnsley on loan until the end of the year, The Telegraph understands.

The one time England international moved to the Britannia Stadium in January, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

He spent the second half of last season back with Birmingham City, having been with the Blues since turning professional in 2010, while he has also impressed in two separate loan spells with Cheltenham Town.

Teams in Spain and Portugal had also been monitoring the 20 year old’s situation, but it is Barnsley who have secured the shot stopper’s services on a 93 day deal.

The Tykes are currently second from bottom of the second-tier, with just four points taken from their opening eight games, while with 22 goals against; they have conceded the most in the division putting them at a price of 1/1 to be relegated to League One.
