Los Angeles Galaxy forward Chad Barrett will miss the 2011 MLS Cup final against Houston Dynamo with a dislocated right ankle.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury during a training session on Thursday.
Starting each of the club’s three post-season matches so far in 2011, Barrett’s presence around the opposition goal will be a massive blow to the Galaxy’s chances.
Playing in 27 matches during the regular season, Barrett contributed seven goals, which was good for second on the team sheet behind Landon Donovan’s 12.
A seven-year veteran of Major League Soccer, Barrett was drafted with the third overall pick in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire.
After spending the first three seasons of his career with Chicago, Barrett was sent to Toronto where he played the next two seasons, before moving to Los Angeles in January of this year.
Barrett has also won one cap for the US national team back in 2008.
