Barton´s high praise for Modric

QPR midfielder Joey Barton has hailed Tottenham star Luka Modric as the best footballer in the Premier League ‘by a mile’.

Modric played the full 90 minutes as Spurs defeated Neil Warnock’s side 3-1 on Sunday, a result that moves the north Londoners up to fifth on the table.

Two goals from Gareth Bale and one from Dutchman Rafael van der Vaart sealed all three points for the home side at White Hart Lane although Barton was full of praise for 26-year-old midfielder Modric.

“What a footballer Luka Modric is, hats off. Best in the league by a mile,” Barton wrote on Twitter.

Reflecting on the defeat that sees QPR remain in 12th spot in the league, former Newcastle United man Barton singled out Bale for his two goals and claimed that he was far more satisfied with his side’s second-half showing.

“Hard game that,” he added. “Good team Spurs, better performance 2nd half. Two great finishes from Bale. Onwards and upwards.”
