QPR midfielder Joey Barton says he would love to stay at Marseille after his current loan deal ends.
The controversial midfielder joined OM on a season-long loan in the summer after he was slapped a 12-match ban by the English FA.
The suspension prevented him from featuring in French Ligue 1, but the 30-year-old has been playing regularly in club’s Europa League campaign.
Barton now reveals that he is perfectly happy at Velodrome and wouldn’t mind making his loan deal permanent.
“If I had my choice, I would stay here for the rest of my career because I love this place, I have a great relationship with the people, the staff, the manager, the players, the fans, and I feel like I’m at home,” the experienced midfielder told reporters.
Barton decided to leave England hoping to avoid the 12-match suspension, only to find out that the ban applied to French Ligue 1 as well.
He has, nevertheless, started all four games for Marseille in Europa League, scoring one goal in the process.
Marseille currently sit tied on points with leaders Paris Saint-Germain, but with a game in hand.
