Queen Park Rangers’ notorious bad boy Joey Barton is on the verge of joining Blackpool on a season-long loan, the Daily Mail understands.
Barton has been training with League Two side Fleetwood Town, and recently took to Twitter to deny rumours linking him with a move to the Lancashire-based Highbury Stadium.
Barton tweeted: “Fleetwood adventure is over. I loved every minute of it. Great club. Good luck to @capboy70, Mickey and a great set of lads for the season.”
The QPR midfielder was infamously sent off on the final day of the 2011-12 English Premier League season against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The English FA eventually charged Barton with violent conduct, which resulted in a lengthy 12-match ban.
Heskey rejects Tangerines’£90-a-week offer
Former England international striker Emile Heskey, who was released by Aston Villa in late May, has reportedly rejected the Seasiders £90-a-week offer to train with the club, the Daily Mail reports.
The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to English Championship side Ipswich Town this summer.
Heskey netted one goal in 28 league appearances (18 starts) for Aston Villa last term.
Holloway plays down move for DJ Campbell
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has revealed that Blackpool do not ‘have a chance in a million years’ to sign Queen Park Rangers striker DJ Campbell, according to the Daily Mail.
“I don’t think there’s a chance in a million years we’ll be able to do a deal to get DJ back,” revealed Holloway.
“Because of how much they are paying him at the moment at QPR, it’s not going to happen.
“We are about as close to re-signing DJ Campbell as there is of me wearing high heels and calling myself Sheila.”
Campbell made 31 appearances (30 starts) for Blackpool in England’s top-flight in 2010-11, bagging 13 goals and one assist.
He joined top-flight newcomers Queens Park Rangers last summer following the Tangerines’ relegation from the Premier League.
The former QPR youth starlet was out-of-favour for the majority of last season, tallying just one goal in 11 appearances (2 starts) for the Super Hoops.
Rennes confirm M’Vila approach
Stade Rennes chairman Frederic de Saint-Serni has revealed that France international midfielder Yann M’Vila has received a formal offer from England, according to Sky Sports.
Arsenal have been linked with the 22-year-old, but recent speculation seems to suggest that the Gunners’ bitter north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the defensive midfielder.
M’Vila played all 90 minutes in a 1-0 defeat to French giants Olympique Lyonnais in Rennes’ first Ligue 1 match of the 2012-13 campaign on Saturday, 11 August.
