Goal.com today reports that Italian international Andrea Barzagli has made a surprise move to German side Wolfsburg after failing to agree terms with Fiorentina; the team that everyone expected Barzagli to join.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Barzagli’s move to Fiorentina was a done deal, and the players agent Claudio Orlandini had revealed that a transfer had been agreed between the two Italian clubs.
However, Orlandini has revealed that Fiorentina were not offering enough for the player, and the defender will surprisingly ply his trade in next year’s Bundesliga.
Orlandini told the Italian press: “Its True, Andrea has signed for Wolfsburg. There was a 200 thousand euro difference between what we asked for and what Fiorentina were willing to give.”
“They did not want to take our requests into consideration, so we accepted another offer. That’s all there is to say.”
Barzagli, 27, has represented the Italian national side 21 times so far, and is one of Italy’s top rated defenders.
The Italian is sure to add quality strength to Wolfsburg’s back-line, and should be seen as a major transfer coup for the German side.
