Portuguese daily newspaper O Jogo understands that Sporting CP are in the process of drafting a new contract for star striker Bas Dost.
The Lions are well aware of the fact that top European clubs are casting admiring glances towards the 28-year-old footballer and they will not sit idle.
Even though Dost’s current deal does not expire until June 2020 and contains a €60 million release clause, Sporting CP chiefs plan to extend the contract by two more years.
The Lions are unable to offer the striker a major pay rise considering that he is currently earning €1.6 million per campaign, but they should be able to offer him €2 million per season and make him the highest paid player in the squad.
Dost has already made it clear that he has no plans to leave Sporting midway through the season, while he also splashed out €1 million on a house in Lisbon, which is enough to suggest he is quite happy at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
