Tottenham have moved to pole position to sign FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah, according to Sky Italia.
The 21-year-old footballer has impressed the visiting scouts with his excellent showings in last year’s Europa League, before picking up where he left off this term.
Salah produced a stunning performance to help Basel defeat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this week, scoring a goal in the process.
Sky Italia has suggested that Inter and Roma are both showing interest in the highly rated midfielder, but Tottenham appear to be leading the chase at the moment.
It was in two matches against Spurs that Salah showcased his skills last term and Tottenham officials have since been keeping close tabs on the player.
In spite on the heavy summer recruitment and the arrival of quite a few attack-minded players, the White Hart Lane outfit are considering a January move on the Egyptian, hoping to beat other interested sides to his signature.
