Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong has confirmed that he has had an approach from Premier League side Arsenal.
The 22-year-old is desperate to leave the Magpies this summer, following their relegation to the Championship.
Bassong impressed for Newcastle last season after joining the club from Metz last summer.
He told France Football when asked if Arsenal were interested in signing him: “I can confirm that. There has been an approach. But for the moment, there is nothing concrete.
“Foreign teams have made enquiries but as my priority is to stay in England, I haven’t followed them through.
“Clearly it would be better if everything went quicker but I am not worried.”
