Lyon have revealed that midfielder Michel Bastos is on the verge of joining Bundesliga side Schalke.
The Miners have lined up the Brazilian winger as a replacement for Lewis Holtby and opened talks with the player’s agents as soon as the German midfielder accepted an offer from Tottenham.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas reveals that the player has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga club, but the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
“Michel has agreed with Schalke, but we have agreed a deal with another club which has not been mentioned in the press,” he told beIN Sport.
“But, if all goes well, I think Michel will join the club with which he agreed this weekend.”
It appears it is only a matter of time before the transfer taking the Brazilian to Veltins Arena will be completed, but Aulas has confirmed that Lisandro Lopez will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window.
Michel Bastos, 29, has spent last three and a half seasons at Stade Gerland, making a total of 98 Ligue 1 appearances for les Gones, and scoring 26 goals in the process.
