LOSC Lille’s winger Michel Bastos says his heart is set on a move to Lyon, as discussions continue between the two clubs over the player’s transfer.
The Brazilian left-side player is being close to an €18m switch to the Stade Gerland but insists that he will always remain indebted to Lille.
“Talks are going on between the two clubs, but I don’t know anything more,” Bastos said. “I’m still under contract at Lille until my transfer is sorted out.”
“I’ve decided to leave but I have to say that the three years I’ve spent at Lille have been the best of my career,” he said.
‘It hurts to leave’
“This is where I grew up, where I started my family. I would like to thank the club with all my heart for what they’ve done for me,” he added.
The lure of Champions League football was too much and played a big part for the 26-year-old’s decision to anticipate a move to the seven-time French champions.
“It hurts me to leave all that [at Lille], but the positive thing is that I’m joining a great club that will allow me to compete in the Champions League and maybe get into the national side,” he said.
