Competition: Belarusian Cup
Market: BATE Borisov win and under 4.5 goals
Odds: 20/21 @ Bet 365
With a spot in the final of this year’s Belarusian Cup up for grabs in midweek, BATE Borisov will be hoping to overturn the deficit when they welcome Slavia Mozyr to the Borisov Arena on Wednesday evening.
Starting with the hosts, while BATE might have been hit with a 1-0 defeat away at Slavia in the first-leg earlier in the month, Zholto-Sinie have begun to show some real signs of life after a tough start to the new campaign. After opening the New Year with back-to-back defeats against Wednesday’s guests and Energetyk-BGU, Kirill Alshevsky’s men are now unbeaten in their last three consecutive Premier League appearances. Building off of their 3-0 romp at home against Minsk a fortnight ago, the Yellow’s picked up what was a deserved 2-0 win against Gorodeya on the road over the weekend. Continuing to shine at the Borisov Arena, Alshevsky will be most impressed by his side’s continued displays at the back. Recording three clean sheets and going over 300 minutes without picking the ball out of their own net, BATE should be confident of overturning the deficit in midweek.
As for the visitors, while Slavia might make the trip to Borisov holding a marginal advantage, Mihail Martsinovich’s men are in the midst of a worrying patch. Since picking up their first-leg victory earlier in the month, the Red and Blacks have now been hit with back-to-back defeats and are showing some real problems at the back. Hit with a 3-1 hammering at home against Minsk over the weekend, Slavia have failed to win any of their last three Premier League outings, a run that also saw them suffer a 2-1 defeat away at Isloch a fortnight ago. While Wednesday’s guests may have secured the victory in each of their last two matchups against BATE, they do hold what is a woeful record at the Borisov Arena. Including a 4-0 loss the last time they faced off against BATE on the road, Slavia have remarkably never managed to win a matchup in Borisov.
