Argentine legend Gabriel Omar Batistuta is set to assume the position of technical secretary at Colon de Santa Fe.

The 42-year-old ended his playing career in 2005 at Qatari club Al Arabi and he has now decided to return to football after six years.

Batistuta is going to be named Colon de Santa Fe technical secretary in the coming days and his tasks will include advising the club officials and coaches on transfers as well as raising the club’s profile in the world.

“I want to announce a fact that makes me very proud, Gabriel Batistuta will become the club’s technical secretary,” Colon de Santa Fe chairman German Leche was quoted as saying.

Batistuta enjoyed a remarkable playing career at both club and international level and he is Argentina’s all-time leading scorer with 56 goals in 78 matches for the national team.
