According to a recent report from Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen have pulled out of the race to try and sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.
He is well known for being one of Chelsea’s primary goalkeeping targets during the summer transfer window, as the Blues prepare to say goodbye to Kepa Arizzabalaga once and for all.
Leverkusen had reportedly submitted an offer for Onana but that claim has been rejected by Ajax, with Chelsea still being at the forefront of the push to sign him.
The defensive issues that Frank Lampard’s men have been experiencing this season really did hold the club back at times, and as we look ahead to the new campaign, the hope from many fans is that they’ll put the majority of their focus on bringing in reinforcements at the back. If they don’t, then they’ll surely continue to struggle behind the strength of both Liverpool and Manchester City.
