Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are stepping up their efforts to sign Italian forward Mattia Destro from AS Roma, Kicker has revealed.
Having sold Josip Drmic to Borussia M’gladbach, die Werkself need a quality attacker to challenge Stefan Kiessling for a starting berth.
And they seem to be hot on the trail of Mattia Destro, who does not appear to have a long-term future at Stadio Olimpico.
Just like they did with Tin Jedvaj, Bayer Leverkusen hope to agree a season-long loan for the forward with an option to buy, and Roma may be interested in such an arrangement.
Mattia Destro, 24, returned to Stadio Olimpico following a disappointing loan spell with AC Milan, but it looks as though he will be moving clubs again.
And having spent much of the career so far struggling for regular playing time, the Italy international will want to join a club where he will have the best chance of nailing down regular starting berth.
