Bayer Leverkusen up for Villarreal test

Bayer Leverkusen hope to continue their rich vein of form when they play host to Villarreal in what should be an entertaining encounter at BayArena.

The two attack-minded sides should make up for an amazing spectacle at BayArena, and you can get your tickets for the Bayer Leverkusen v Villarreal Europa League game on TixDaq.

The hosts enter the game high on confidence, having eliminated Metalist Kharkiv by winning 6:0 on aggregate and are hoping to create a decent advantage before the return leg at El Madrigal.

Coach Jupp Heynckes has welcomed back Sami Hyppia and Hanno Balitsch after the pair missed the Wolfsburg win, but Tranquillo Barnetta and Manuel Friedrich have been ruled out of this clash.

Eren Derdiyok is set to return to the starting line-up alongside Stefan Kiessling in attack, whereas Simon Rolfes and Arturo Vidal continue to form the midfield partnership.

Villarreal produced quite a coup by eliminating high-flying Napoli after winning 2:1 on aggregate, but the Yellow Submarine face another difficult tie in the last 16 stage.

The Spaniards have started to struggle of late and this game comes at a bad time for them, having lost to Atletico at the weekend in La Liga, but the players are determined to put on a good show at BayArena.

“We have to get a good result if we want to make it through. We have a bad taste in the mouth after the game at Calderon, but we are now very motivated to obtain a positive result,” Santi Cazorla was quoted as saying.

”A European competition is a bit different because you don’t pick up points and you either go through or get eliminated.”

In addition to long-term worries Marcos Senna and Angel Lopez, coach Juan Carlos Garrido will be without Joan Capdevilla and Cicinho.

Having won just one out of last eight away games, Villarreal will be hoping to get at least one point from a very difficult ground that is BayArena.
