Bayern Munich defender Breno is expected to be released from prison on bail on Thursday after he was arrested on suspicion of arson.
The 21-year-old was arrested on September 24 after his villa in the Munich district of Grunwald was set on fire, causing around 1.5 million euros worth of damage.
However, the Brazilian is expected to be released from custody after his bail was confirmed on Thursday.
“Today, the Munich district court upheld the warrant against the accused Breno Borges in the course of a review of the remand but decided to release him on parole at the request of the defending lawyer,” the Munich district court said in a statement.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was delighted as hearing news of Breno’s bail application being granted by the court.
“We are very happy to hear that Breno was released from remand earlier today so that he can return to his family and the club,” Rummenigge said.
“We appreciate that (lawyer) Werner Leitner and the court treated this case with fairness and tactfulness.”
Breno moved to Bayern Munich in December 2007 from Sao Paulo, but has struggled to lock down a regular starting role with the Bavarians.
