Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto wants to extend his contract with defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to help the German giants retain their title, it was revealed on Monday.
Ze Roberto, 34, is under contract until June 2009, but the ex-Brazil star wants to remain longer.
“I want to stay,” he told German magazine Kicker on Tuesday having scored Bayern’s first goal in their 3-1 win over Dortmund on Sunday.
“My family feels well in Munich and there are things I still want to achieve with the club.”
Ze Roberto, who has 85 caps for Brazil, first came to Munich in 2002 and stayed for four years, but is curently in his second stint with Bayern having re-joined the club in the summer of 2007.
He has won four German titles with Bayern in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
“He is impressive, he always works hard and seems to play at a higher level with each game, we hope he prolongs his contract,” said Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
The new deal is expected to be finalised by the end of February.
