European powerhouses Bayern Munich and Manchester City are locked in the battle for Schalke hotshot Leroy Sane, Sport Bild has suggested.
The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of Germany’s hottest prospects at the moment and the Miners have reportedly already rejected a €50 million proposal for his services.
However, considering that a €37 million release clause will be activated in the summer of 2017, Schalke are ready to consider serious offers for the talented youngster.
And even though Manchester City remain keen, it is believed that Bayern Munich have gained the upper hand.
Namely, the Bavarians plan to purchase Leroy Sane this summer, albeit allowing him to remain with Schalke for another season, and such an arrangement is likely to appear to the Miners bosses.
The Bavarians have the contracts of both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery expiring in a year’s time, and they are determined to bring the Germany starlet to Allianz Arena.
