Bayern Munich have announced the signing of striker Claudio Pizarro from Werder on club’s official website.
The Bavarians were on the lookout for Mario Gomez’s back-up and they decided to make a move for their former player.
Following several weeks of negotiations, the German giants have reached an agreement with the player and his representatives.
As a result, the Peruvian striker will join Bayern when his contract with Werder expires at the end of the season.
“We’re delighted we’ve been able to sign Claudio Pizarro, an internationally experienced and very prolific forward,” Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger told club’s official website.
Claudio Pizarro enjoyed a lot of success during his first spell at the club, having scored 71 goals in 174 Bundesliga appearances.
The 33-year-old had a great season with Werder last term, and was team’s top scorer with 18 league goals.
Pizarro is Bayern’s fourth signing for the new season, after Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante Bonfim and Tom Starke all pledged their allegiance to the Bavarians.
