Bayern Munich have expressed interest in Cottbus striker Nils Petersen, according to Bild.
The 22-year-old Petersen currently leads the Bundesliga 2 scoring charts with 24 goals in 31 appearances and his impressive showings for Cottbus haven’t gone unnoticed.
Jupp Heynckes, who is set to take over at Bayern next summer, have been keeping tabs on the promising striker for quite a while and he will instruct Bayern chiefs to launch an assault on Petersen.
Heynckes is looking for a young striker with big potential and the one who wouldn’t mind sitting on the bench every once in a while and Pedersen perfectly fits the profile.
The 22-year-old has a contract with Cottbus until June 2014, but he should be available for €3 million.
The player’s agent, Lars Baumgarten has revealed he is aware of the Bayern interest.
“We know of Bayern interest. It is an honour for Nils.”
Petersen admits he is tempted by the potential move to Bayern.
“Bayern are the biggest club in Germany. Very tempting. But, I must be thinking about the future, I have got to play.”
