Bayern Munich are confident about keeping their long-serving goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Bavarian club’s CEO.
The 34-year-old Germany number one arrived to the club from Schalke 04 in 2011, and we could be witnessing a change between the posts at the Allianz Arena very soon with Alexander Nubel set to make the same move on a free transfer this summer.
However, Neuer recently revealed that his decision on whether to sign a new contract or not wouldn’t be impacted by the arrival of the 11 years younger competitor from his former club.
Speaking to Bild, Rummenigge expressed his belief that both Bayern and Neuer know what they have in each other and that an agreement on a new deal will be reached soon. For their part, the club believe they have the best goalkeeper in the world, one who helped them win everything.
Neuer’s current contract expires next year, which has reportedly attracted the attention of Chelsea as manager Frank Lampard seeks to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.
