Bayern Munich have cooled their interest in Timo Werner of RB Leipzig, according to German magazine Kicker.
The striker has long been linked with the Bavarians, with reports of the Bundesliga champions having agreed terms with him appearing on several different occasions and from different media outlets, but it appears the move has hit some kind of a snag.
Bayern still need to find a suitable long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is still on great form but will turn 31 this August. However, they appear to be set to look elsewhere.
Apart from Bayern, Werner has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid in the past as he seeks to make the next step in his career. He has 12 months remaining on his contract with Leipzig and is reluctant to sign a new one. The club have been adamant that they will sell their striker should he refuse to do so.
Bayern are, however, still keen on Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, for whom they’ve reportedly already had a bid rejected by the Premier League champions.
