Bayern Munich have turned the volume down on their interest in RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, according to Kicker.
The German magazine claim that what Bayern are looking for is an actual winger, rather than a forward that would be able to play around Robert Lewandowski. For that, they currently have James Rodriguez (this particular piece of the report suggests the Bavarians would be willing to activate the option to buy the Colombian from Real Madrid after the two-year loan expires), and Thomas Muller. What they need is another wide man, capable of helping Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry fill the void that will be left by the departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
If so, this may prove a boost for Liverpool in their reported pursuit of the striker. The Merseysiders reportedly contacted Leipzig to make a polite inquiry about the availability of Werner several weeks ago as they look to add quality to their already formidable front line.
