Bayern Munich have confirmed that Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano are set for a period on the sidelines after picking up injuries on international duty.
Davies suffered an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear in his right knee during Canada’s 2-1 win over the United States in their Nations League third-place play-off.
The 24-year-old, who extended his Bayern contract until 2030 last month, was replaced by Niko Sigur in the 12th minute of the match and will miss the rest of the season.
Davies has been an integral part of Vincent Kompany’s side this season, making 31 appearances across all competitions, notching three goals and three assists.
“Unfortunately, during international breaks there’s always the risk that players will return injured — this time it’s hit us particularly hard,” Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl said in a statement.
Upamecano, meanwhile, has been ruled out for several weeks, with the club confirming the France international was diagnosed with loose joints in his left knee.
In the Bundesliga this season, only Kim Min-Jae (76) has won more aerial duels than Upamecano (60) for Bayern, while his 22 tackles won is a total only bettered by midfielder Joshua Kimmich (25).

“The absences of Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano are a heavy blow for Bayern,” Eberl added.
“Phonzy will get all the support he needs on his way back. We will also follow Upa closely in the coming weeks and assume that he will be available again soon.
“Our squad is strong and will compensate for these absences.”
Bayern return to Bundesliga action on Saturday when they welcome St. Pauli to the Allianz Arena, hoping to return to winning ways after two league games without a victory.
Kompany’s team have seen their advantage at the summit cut to six points by Bayer Leverkusen following a defeat to lowly Bochum and a draw with Union Berlin.
Bayern then continue their quest for the Champions League title, taking on Serie A leaders Inter in the first leg of their quarter-final tie on April 8.
