Spanish daily newspaper Marca has suggested that Bayern Munich are hot on the trail of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
The Bavarians boss Pep Guardiola has been impressed with the talented Frenchman and he hopes to lure him to Alianz Arena at the earliest opportunity.
The Spanish coach met with Varane’s agent Jorge Mendes in December to inform him of his interest, but it remains to be seen whether Bayern will be able to agree a deal with Real Madrid.
Varane, who is also on the radar of Manchester rivals, is not a first team regular at Santiago Bernabeu, but he is reportedly happy with his status at the club.
The 21-year-old has shown a great deal of promise since he arrived from Lens three and a half years ago and many regard him as one of world’s most talented centre-backs.
Varane has made a total of 8 La Liga appearances for los Blancos this term, albeit starting just four of those games.
