Bayern in fresh assault on Godin

Bayern Munich will attempt to persuade Atletico chiefs to cash in on star defender Diego Godin, according to AS.

With Daniel Van Buyten leaving the club and Javi Martinez suffering a knee ligament injury, the Bavarians are desperate to sign a high-quality defender in the coming days.

And seeing as how they have failed in the quest to add Mehdi Benatia to their ranks, Bayern aim to try and lure Atletico’s Diego Godin to Alianz Arena.

The club technical director Michael Reschke is scheduled to meet los Colchonoros chiefs during the day, but the problem is that Atletico are not looking to sell.

Diego Godin has established himself as one of La Liga’s top central defenders, but he has recently pledged his future to the club by signing a new deal.

Atletico do have decent replacements for the starting centre-back pairing in Toby Alderweireld and Jose Maria Gimenez, and Bayern hope they will agree to sell in case of a very good offer.
