Manuel Neuer’s contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season, and there has been plenty of speculation about the future of the 38-year-old goalkeeper. Recent reports suggested the ex-Germany international would be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena as a free agent, with the club eyeing a potential move for Alisson Becker to replace him.
Alisson could, in theory, be a realistic target, despite his contract with Liverpool running until the summer of 2027. The Merseysiders have secured the services of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will arrive at Anfield from Valencia at the end of this season, and Alisson’s place between the posts likely won’t be guaranteed anymore.
However, according to ESPN, Alisson is not a target for Bayern.
Bayern’s primary plan is for Alexander Nubel, 28, currently on loan at Stuttgart, to eventually succeed Neuer as the club’s No. 1, though they’re expected to open talks with Neuer of the possibility of a new deal soon. Alternative targets include 21-year-old Jonas Urbig of FC Koln, as well as 22-year-old Bart Verbruggen of Brighton and Hove Albion.
