Bayern Munich look set for a boost to their Bundesliga hopes on Sunday with defender Diego Contento plus midfielders Franck Ribery and Mark van Bommel set to return to their squad to face Nuremberg.
Defending champions Bayern are ninth in the league table and 12 points behind leaders Dortmund after an unimpressive start to the season.
Munich’s plight has not been helped by injuries to key playmakers Dutch star Arjen Robben and Ribery, but the French winger is recovering well from an ankle injury he suffered in September and could play this weekend.
“It has been fun and it feels good to be back in training,” said Ribery.
“I am not yet 100 percent fit and I need more training.”
Likewise, Bayern captain van Bommel could feature against Nuremberg in Munich after a four-week break with a knee injury, as could Contento who has been out for six weeks with a groin problem.
Bayern coach Louis van Gaal has said the trio could all be used off the bench as Munich look to climb the table.
