Bayern in Javi Martinez link
Spanish newspaper AS claims Bayern Munich are stepping up their efforts to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez.
The Spain international, who was mostly used as a centre-back under Marcelo Bielsa, has hugely impressed last season and has since seen his name linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.
Bayern Munich also expressed their interest in signing the 23-year-old and AS understands the Bavarians are set to materialize their interest in the highly rated midfielder.
The German giants are ready to offer the player a four-year deal worth €7 million per campaign and they believe a hefty wage could persuade him to leave San Mames.
Javi Martinez has a €40 million release clause inserted in his deal and Athletic chiefs are adamant they will accept nothing less for their star player.
Nonetheless, the Bavarians are hoping they will change their minds if the player expresses his desire to leave this summer.
Fiorentina insist Jovetic not for sale
Fiorentina have rejected speculations linking star forward Stevan Jovetic with a summer exit from Artemio Franchi.
The Montenegrin forward was heavily linked with a summer exit following a very disappointing season for Viola.
Chelsea were believed to be preparing a mega money offer for the talented attacker, but Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle is adamant Jovetic is not for sale.
“In relation to the stories published in the press regarding Stevan Jovetic, Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle reiterates that the player is not on the market,” a statement on club’s official website read.
The 22-year-old joined Fiorentina in an €8 million deal from Partizan Belgrade, and quickly developed into a key player at Artemio Franchi.
The Montenegrin international was in fine form last season, scoring 14 goals in 27 Serie A appearances.
Palermo confirm Silvestre set for Inter switch
Palermo have confirmed star defender Matias Silvestre is on the verge of completing a move to Inter.
The Argentine defender arrived at Renzo Barbera last summer from arch rivals Catania, but he has voiced his discontent at the lack of ambition shown by the Rosanero.
The highly rated defender expressed his desire to leave Palermo for a bigger club this summer, and the club chiefs are ready to grant him the wish.
“I met with President Massimo Moratti,” Palermo chairman Maurizio Zamparini told Radio Radio. “We spoke about Silvestre and we are on the same page.
“There is a 99 per cent chance that a deal will be done. It will be a transfer worth around €8m to €10m.
“It is a lot easier to do deals when presidents negotiate than when sporting directors hold discussions…”
The 27-year-old has been a rock in Palermo’s defence last season, while he managed to score no less than 5 goals in 29 Serie A games.
