Former Arsenal and Bayern Munich coach Andries Jonker believes the Bayern are interested in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Sports. The 56-year-old claims that the youngster’s success in the Bundesliga comes as no surprise, but rather as a confirmation of the talent that was always there to see.
Sancho, who will only turn 19 in a few days, moved to Dortmund from Manchester City last year for around €8 million, and has since sparked the interest of a number of big clubs as well as an international call-up for England with his incredible form this season. He has so far had 23 goal involvements (eight goals and 15 assists) in 26 Bundesliga appearances, and Jonker says all that he needed was time and practice to develop the strength needed to handle the situation.
“Bayern Munich are interested, which is a huge thing. Just 18 years old and that good”, he said.
Bayern have developed a habit of using the club’s reputation and financial power to sign the best players from other Bundesliga sides. In recent years, the Bavarians have signed the likes Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels and Mario Goetze (who has returned to Dortmund since) from their current title rivals.
