According to German outlet Bild (via Sport.de), Zinedine Zidane is open to the idea of taking charge of the team at Bayern Munich after Thomas Tuchel leaves at the end of the season.
Bayern and Tuchel have already agreed to part ways in the summer, and there are a number of names linked with the Allianz Arena job. One of them is Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, also reportedly of interest to Premier League leaders Liverpool, though there is confidence in the Leverkusen ranks about keeping hold of their in-demand coach. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s agent has ruled out the current Liverpool boss as a candidate.
Zidane apparently considers Bayern as a club similar to his former employers Real Madrid, an institution in the game with plenty of history, run with plenty of competence and attention to detail. Having left Los Blancos for the second time in 2021, the 1998 World Cup winner has been out of work since, and he’s now keen to return to management.
