Bayern keen to keep Mandzukic

Bayern Munich are set to offer Mario Mandzukic a new contract in a bid to stave of interest from their European rivals, according to TalkSport.

The striker’s future at the Allianz Arena has been the subject of much speculation since the Bundesliga and European champions confirmed the signing of Robert Lewandowski, who will arrive from rivals Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea had been linked with a move for Mandzukic, who with seventeen goals in the top scorer in the German top flight, though Bayern are keen to keep hold of him as they look to continue dominating the European football scene.

Pep Guardiola’s men drew 1-1 at Old Trafford yesterday evening in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final tie.

The second leg takes place in Munich next Wednesday, where the holders can be backed at odds of 1/9 to book their place in the semi-finals.
