Bayern keen on Corchia
Bayern Munich are pondering a summer bid for Sochaux defender Sebastien Corchia, according to a report in L’Equipe.
The Bavarians officials have been disappointed by the standard of performances of Rafinha, who has failed to challenge Philipp Lahm for a starting berth on the right flank.
They, therefore, plan to get rid of the Brazilian at the end of the current campaign and sign a new right-back.
French daily L’Equipe understands that Bayern have made Sochaux starlet Sebastien Corchia their number one target for the summer transfer window.
Corchia, 22, has a contract until June 2015 at Stade Auguste-Bonal and would probably jump at the opportunity to join such a high-profile club.
The talented full-back joined Soxhaux from Le Mans in the summer of 2011, and has since scored 1 goal and produced 6 assists in 54 Ligue 1 appearances.
Ambrosini hints at summer exit
Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini admits that he may be forced to leave San Siro at the end of the season.
The veteran midfielder’s contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign and while he would like to continue with the Rossoneri, he may not be offered a new deal by the club chiefs.
“I don’t want to retire, I want to keep playing,” the 35-year-old said at a press conference. “But I know that the club’s new project is based on youngsters so we’ll have to see what happens.
“If I was to leave Milan then I would not choose to play for another Italian club, that is for sure.”
Apart from a loan spell at Vicenza, Ambrosini has spent his entire career at San Siro, after coming through the youth ranks at the club.
He has made more than 300 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri and has enjoyed plenty of success in both Italy in Europe.
Ambrosini has won four Serie A titles, two Champions League trophies and FIFA World Club Cup, to name just a few.
Russian giants battle for Meireles
Turkish newspaper Fanatik is reporting that Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles is nearing a switch to Russia.
Meireles, 29, only arrived in Turkey last summer, with Fener paying €10 million for his services, but he has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the club since.
While quickly establishing himself as a first team regular at Sukru Saracoglu, the Portuguese international has already received two red cards this season, and the club chiefs are seriously pondering his sale.
Fanatik claims that Zenit, Rubin Kazan and Anzhi are prepared to offer Meireles an escape route from Istanbul.
Russian clubs have until Thursday to sign new players, and at least one of the three clubs are expected to make an official offer for the player’s services.
Raul Meireles has made a total of 22 competitive appearances for Fenerbahce, scoring 2 goals in the process.
