Real Madrid have reportedly marked the name of Alphonso Davies as one of their top transfer targets for next summer. However, Bayern Munich are obviously very keen to keep the Canada international in their ranks for as long as possible, according to president Herbert Hainer.
Real are apparently determined to sign a top-quality player for their left defensive flank, with the likes of Ferland Mendy, Fran Garcia and Nacho all deemed unreliable for different reasons. Mendy is injured too frequently, Nacho is first and foremost a centre-back, and Garcia is too inexperienced to be a regular starter for a team aiming for every trophy available. That’s why they’ve decided to go all-in for Davies as their primary summer target, aside from Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
Davies joined Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps back in 2019, and his impact at the Allianz Arena has been huge. At the age of 23, he obviously has the majority of his career still ahead of him, and Real are keen to make use of that, but they will be aware that Bayern still have the final word, given that his contract with the Bundesliga champions expires in 2025.
