Bayern midfielder Danijel Pranjic has revealed that he was on the verge of completing a deadline day move to Everton.
The Croatian international has found himself surplus to requirements at Alianz Arena and he was eager to leave the Bavarians in January.
Everton appeared ready to take the player to Goodison, but the transfer fell through as the two clubs failed to agree on the transfer fee, leaving the player very disappointed.
“I had an agreement with Everton for two-and-a-half years,” Pranjic was quoted as saying in Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.
“I was ready to board a plane and I was really happy because I knew that Everton were serious and that they had big plans for me.
“But now it is all over and this is a catastrophe. I can’t describe the negative feelings I have.
“Bayern wanted so much money that everybody knew that Everton would not pay.
“I’m so unhappy because I was sure that I would be leaving Bayern. I don’t play and now the opportunity to play in the Premier League has gone. I’m so unhappy.”
The 30-year-old player, who can cover every single position on the left hand side, arrived to Munich from Heerenveen in June 2009.
The Croat managed to earn a starting berth soon after arriving to Bayern, but quickly lost his place in the side and has been on the fringes ever since.
Pranjic has been looking for a way out of Alianz Arena since last summer, but it is now clear that he will see out his contract with Bayern that is set to expire at the end of the season.
