(GSM) – The transfer of Dutch defender Gregory van der Wiel to Bayern München seems further away than ever as the Germans failed to reach an agreement with the player’s current club, Ajax.

Van der Wiel, who impressed during the World Cup in South Africa, became a top target for Bayern but the German champions refused to meet Ajax’ demand of 17 million Euros.

Bayern then offered to include Edson Braafheid in the deal, but Ajax showed little interest in such an exchange.

Van der Wiel, 22, plays as a right-back and spent his entire professional career at Ajax. In 76 appearances, he found the net on eight occasions.
