Bayern Munich 1/1 to beat PSG in Wednesday’s Champions League showdown

Competition: Champions League

Market: Bayern Munich win

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

Looking to pick up an early advantage on Wednesday night, Bayern Munich and PSG will face off in a repeat meeting of last summer’s Champions League Final.

Starting with the hosts, marking their return with what could turn out to be a crucial 1-0 victory away at RB Leipzig over the weekend, Bayern Munich have yet another silverware sweep on their agenda this year. Extending their buffer at the top of the Bundesliga, the German heavyweights currently find themselves enjoying a seven-match winning run and the mood in their camp should be at a real high. Although the defending European champions might not be able to call upon attacking talisman Robert Lewandowski due to an injury issue in midweek, there is no doubt that Bayern should be boosted by a rampant Champions League record on home soil. Including victories against the likes of Lazio, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham, Wednesday’s hosts have won each of their previous eight European contests at The Allianz Arena.

As for the visitors, while PSG might have turned to Mauricio Pochettino to fill the void left in the French capital earlier in the year, The Blues have shown their own inconsistencies. Now in an uphill battle if they’re to retain their Ligue 1 crown this season, the former Tottenham boss saw his side suffer a shock 1-0 loss against new leaders Lille over the weekend. With just a pair of wins in their last five matchups across all formats and also suffering another stunning defeat at the hands of Nantes prior to March’s international break, PSG could face another stern test on foreign soil. Watching Bayern lift the Champions League title last summer thanks to a 1-0 victory in Portugal, the French giants have lost each of their last three straight meetings against Wednesday’s hosts and we’re backing a similar outcome in midweek.
