Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have joined the line behind Schalke star midfielder Leon Goretzka, who has been widely tipped to join Arsenal this summer.
The Gunners are thought to have prepared a £21 million bid for the 22-year-old star who has only a year remaining in his contract with Schalke.
German international is currently in Russia where he takes part in the Confederations Cup with Joachim Loew’s experimental side. Goretzka scored his first goal for his country in a 3-2 win over Australia and did enough to further dazzle the football world with his displays.
And now the German media outlet Kicker has learned that Bundesliga champions have joined the chase for the 22-year-old. The Bavarians will approach the player who they want to sign on as free agent next summer and were immediately installed as favourites to land the talented midfielder, according to the reports.
Goretzka made 30 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke this season. He netted three goals and provided one assist in the league, while he added 3 more goals and another assist in seven Europa League matches.
