German newspaper Bild claims Bayern Munich are showing interest in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.
The German giants have already signed no less than seven players this summer, but they have enough money to make another big name signing.
The Bavarians seem to have admitted defeat in their chase to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez and have now turned their attention to Bayer Leverkusen star Lars Bender.
The 23-year-old is a personal favourite of new sporting director Matthias Sammer and he could be arriving to Alianz Arena this summer, according to Bild.
The highly rated midfielder has been one of star performers for Bayer last season and impressive showings for the Bundesliga side helped him earn a place in Germany’s Euro 2012 squad.
Bender scored a winning goal against Denmark in his only start at the European Championship, while making another two substitute appearances.
The talented footballer has five years left on his deal at Bay Arena, meaning that he won’t come on the cheap.
