Bayern Munich step up chase for Semedo

German daily newspaper Die Welt claims that Bayern Munich have launched an assault on Benfica full-back Nelson Semedo.

It is no secret that the Bavarians are in the market for a right-sided defender now that it has been revealed that Philipp Lahm will retire at the end of the season.

And with Joshua Kimmich expected to play in midfield next term, Bayern Munich have decided to make Nelson Semedo their primary target.

The Bavarians have reportedly submitted a formal offer for the Benfica starlet, but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to find an agreement with the Eagles.

Nelson Semedo could, therefore, follow in the footsteps of Renato Sanchez, who left Benfica for Bayern Munich last summer.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form ever since he joined the Eagles from Sintrense in 2012, making 63 appearances for Benfica B and another 36 league outings for the senior team.
