German champions Bayern Munich are interested in signing Turkey midfielder Nuri Sahin from current Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, Kicker magazine reported on Thursday.
The 22-year-old has been in impressive form this season and scored three goals in eight league matches for the leaders including a well-struck free-kick in the 2-0 win over Bayern on October 3 in Dortmund.
Kicker cited a reliable source as saying Champions League finalists Bayern want to sign the Germany-born Turkey star.
With captain Mark van Bommel’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Sahin is seen as good replacement at the heart of Bayern’s midfield.
The Turk’s contract does not expire until 2013 although he has an option to leave Dortmund at the end of this season providing the buying club offers at least six millions euros for him.
