According to a recent report from Tuttosport, Bayern Munich are set to try and sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The aim from Bayern is to form a partnership between Koulibaly and Dayot Upamecano which, it’s safe to say, could easily wind up being one of the best centre-back partnerships of the last decade in world football.
Bayern are quite clearly still the kings of German football but they’re always looking for more ways to add to their empire – and also to try and keep hold of their title as European champions.
Koulibaly has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli for longer than we can remember and a deal like this would certainly be something that’ll raise the eyebrows of a few top European clubs.
The next step forward will be for a formal bid to be made but given how these things work, that probably isn’t going to happen for a few weeks or months yet.
