According to a recent report from Bild, Bayern Munich have entered themselves into the race to sign Hannibal Mejre. Many fans reading this probably wouldn’t have even heard of the French midfielder, and that’s likely because he’s only 16 years of age. Mejre is currently plying his trade with Monaco, although Bayern aren’t the only side interested. Manchester United are also said to be sniffing around, as they begin to plan for the future – which is a future that will likely include Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if all things go well.
The signing of Mejre, for any team across European football, would likely mark the continuation of a growing trend. That trend is the insistence on big teams to look towards incredibly young players, even though they probably have no intention of featuring them for a good few years.
Still, they’ll at least get the chance to learn and grow under the tutelage of some world class talent.
