Bayern ponder move for Senegalese goal machine
Bayern Munich are weighing up move for Freiburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse, Bild understands.
With Ivica Olic likely to leave the club, the Bavarians are looking to add another striker in January.
According to Bild, they have set their sights on Freiburg forward Papiss Demba Cisse.
The Senegalese is looking for a new challenge and he is said to be tempted by the reported interest from Bayern.
Cisse has a contract with Freiburg until June 2014, but it is believed that he would be allowed to leave for €12 million.
Bayern Munich are seriously thinking about making a bid for the 26-year-old in January, but they are worried by the fact that Cisse is set to take part in African Cup of Nations.
Should Bayern manage to sign the promising forward, he would miss entire pre-season and first four games in 2012, which would hardly be a perfect start to his career at Alianz Arena.
The Senegal international has been one of the most prolific Bundesliga strikers over the last few years, having scored 30 goals in last 46 league games.
Manchester United join race for Serie A hotshot
Manchester United are keeping tabs on Atalanta striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Daily Mail.
The Italy Under-21 striker is a product of Atalanta’s famous youth academy and has already featured in six Serie A games this term.
However, it was his performances for the Italy youth sides that have earned him wide recognition, after he scored 10 goals in 13 games for Italy Under-21 team.
Serie A giants Juventus and Milan are tracking the youngster’s progress and could step up their interest in the summer.
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United have also joined the race for the player’s signature.
With Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen likely to leave Old Trafford in the summer, Sir Alex Ferguson could add another striker to the squad.
The 20-year-old is valued at £9 million by Atalanta, which is well within United’s price range.
Martin Montoya set to sign new Barca deal
Spain Under-21 defender Martin Montoya is set to sign a contract extension with Barcelona, Marca has revealed.
The promising full-back has less than a year left on his contract at Camp Nou, but the club chiefs have reportedly reached an agreement over the contract extension.
According to Marca, the 20-year-old is set to sign a new deal that will keep him at the club until June 2014.
The player had some doubts over signing the new deal at Camp Nou as he was looking for more first team opportunities.
As a result, Roma and Valencia expressed their interest in signing the product of Barcelona youth school, but it looks as though Montoya will be staying at Camp Nou after all.
The right-back, who was handed a first team debut in February, hasn’t made a single appearance for the senior side this season.
