There’s almost two months to go before the January transfer window opens, but transfer rumours never cease popping up around the globe. However, when it comes to Bayern Munich, club president Herbert Hainer has ruled out any dealings in the market halfway through the season.
For the moment, the club’s priority when it comes to the first-team squad, according to Hainer, is giving all the ‘good’ players already in their ranks sufficient time on the pitch, and he believes head coach Julian Nagelsmann is doing that very well.
Towards the end of the summer, Bayern granted Robert Lewandowski his wish to leave the Allianz Arena to join Barcelona, after signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool. Apart from the Polish striker, more notable departures included defender Niklas Sule and midfielder Corentin Tolisso, while defender Matthijs de Ligt and midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, as well as right-back Noussair Mazraoui arrived to boost the squad.
Lewandowski’s departure has opened the door for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to flourish leading the line upfront, and the 33-year-old Cameroon international has 10 goals in 14 matches in all competitions this term.
FC Bayern will not sign any player in January, president Hainer confirms: “We’ve no need for winter transfers at all – we rather have to make sure that all our good players get playing time”. 🔴🚫 #FCBayern
