According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have made significant progress in their negotiations over a new contract with Alphonso Davies.
Davies’ current deal expires at the end of the season, and Real Madrid have been hoping to sign him as a free agent next summer. Manchester United have been following the situation closely too, but the hopes of both those clubs seem to have taken a hit. The Canada international is believed to have made “significant concessions” to Bayern regarding his wages, but there are still some details to be ironed out and the final agreement has not yet been reached. More talks between the two parties will be held this month, before Christmas.
The 24-year-old left-back joined Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018 for a reported fee of €14 million. Since then, he’s gone on to make a total of 214 appearances across all competitions for the Bavarians, scoring 11 goals and producing 34 assists.
