Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes says as influential midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to make his comeback this weekend.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been out of action since he suffered ankle ligament damage early in February, but has now resumed regular training and is expected to play a role in Bayern’s Bundesliga clash with Hoffenheim on Saturday.

“He has trained with the rest of the team again without any problems for the first time. I hope that he will be ready to make the match squad for Saturday’s game,” Heynckes said.

“He is an important personality both on and off the pitch, and can give the team extra impulses.”

Bayern have been struggling to find their best form in the absence of Schweinsteiger and are in second spot on the Bundesliga table, seven points off league leaders Borussia Dortmund.
